A BIKE RIDE

    Down 103 miles of the historic C&O Canal gravel-bedded tow path from Williamsport, MD, to "Mile -0-" in Georgetown, Washington, DC.

    The Historic Chesapeake & Ohio Canal

    Beginning in Williamsport, Maryland, follow the C&O Canal Tow Path along its 103 mile course south to its terminus at Georgetown, Washington, DC, Mile -0-. Along the way, take in historic landmarks, quaint towns and villages, and the scenic countryside. It's sure to be an unforgettable experience. 

    Ride starts at 385 feet elevation and ends at 17 feet elevation, with a gentle and consistent downhill grade throughout the entire distance. See video of Canal Tow Path HERE (4:48).

    Travel Plan

    Day 1 / Saturday (1-Day Option)

    1. 2:00PM - Park car at The Washington Harbour Garage at 3000-3050 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007.

    2. 4:15AM - Pickup and transportation by driver from 2 Wheel Escapes to Williamsport, MD. (301) 991-7090 M/SMS.

    3. 5:45AM - Arrival at Williamsport, MD, C&O Canal Trail.

    4. At 6:00AM begin ride along C&O Canal tow path.

    5. End ride at Mile -0- in Georgetown, Washington, DC.

    6. Ride/Walk bikes to Washington Harbour Garage at 3000-3050 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007.

    7. Head home.

    Day 1 / Saturday (2-Day Option)

    1. 2:00PM - Park car at The Washington Harbour Garage at 3000-3050 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007.

    2. 2:30PM - Pickup and transportation by Rose at 2 Wheel Escapes to Williamsport, MD. (301) 991-7090 M/SMS.

    3. 4:00PM - Arrival at Williamsport, MD, Red Roof Inn.

    Day 2 / Sunday (2-Day Option)
    1. At 6:00AM begin ride along C&O Canal tow path.

    2. End ride at Mile -0- in Georgetown, Washington, DC.

    3. Ride/Walk bikes to The Washington Harbour Garage at 3000-3050 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007.

    4. Head home.
